Australians Try Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches!

Last week, Clancy did a post about his lunch which included a peanut butter sandwich. Trent's mum, Mrs Adler, told us that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are popular in America. Some people call them PB&Js! No one in 2KM had tried this combination before and although it sounded "interesting", we decided to give it a try! It is good to try new foods!

In Australia we call jelly, jam. Jelly is a dessert that Americans call jello. It gets confusing doesn't it!

First we had to find out exactly how to make a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich. This video explained it all.

Next we made our sandwiches....

.... and had a taste!

Thumbs up or thumbs down? What did you think of the American sandwich?

We did a survey and made a pie graph to show our results.

Let's see if this poll is similar. What do you think of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?

  1. Dear 2KM,

Today we 2KM Peanut butter and Jelly (Australians call it jam) sandwiches. I think they were fantastic and okay. Hopeful all the people in 2KM trid it.

  2. Dear 2KM,

I am so thrilled that all of you made an effort to try something new. Last week when I was writing to you about PB&Js, I could not have imagined that today I would see on my computer, a picture of all of you holding them in your hands. You are all very darling!

I am sorry I was not there to make them for you and see your expressions in person.

I think your post was so creative as well. The video, pie chart and voting poll, made it seem very sophisticated and I was impressed.

Thank you 2KM for making me smile and laugh. You will be the highlight of my day!

    Mrs. Adler

p.s. next time try putting potato chips in the middle of the sandwich for an added crunch :)

  3. Dear 2KM,

I enjoyed your post on peanut butter and jelly. I thought I would let you know that I like peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Give it a try some time.

  4. Dear 2KM,

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches sound really good, and I am not allowed to have them because I am allergic to peanuts and peanut butter. I also have a fact about peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Did you know Elvis' favorite sandwich was peanut butter and banana sandwiches?

  5. Dear 2KM,

Peanut butter and jelly is very popular in America, and it looks like a lot of people like it in 2KM. Although, I don't like jelly, I LOVE peanut butter. When my brother has a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, I have a peanut butter and honey sandwich.

  6. Dear 2KM,

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are my favorite, but I prefer plain grape jelly on bread. Sometimes I eat just peanut butter on a bun which I do enjoy, but not as much as a just jelly which I LOVE.

How many people in your class loved it, and how many people thought it was okay, and how many people thought it was bad?

  7. Dear 2KM,

Your post about PB&Js is marvelous! I, myself love peanut butter and jam sandwiches. As you know, many Americans love them. I might try peanut butter and banana sandwiches with a potato chip like Trent's mom and grandmother recommended!

    (in Mrs. Yollis' class)

  8. Dear 2KM,

It is so exciting that you guys tried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

Most of you liked the new American food. Like some of you, I don't enjoy them. I LOVE peanut butter, but I am not a big fan of jelly. Sometimes I eat peanut butter and cream cheese sandwiches.

What did Miss McGeady think of the sandwiches?

  9. Dear 2KM,

It is really interesting that you never experienced peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
I don't like jelly in my sandwiches. I just like it when you warm up peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Usually, I have that on weekends.

Another sandwich, that I like is marshmallow and peanut butter I call it fluff-a-nutter. That is the best for dessert.

    Your blogging buddy friend,

Scarlet (from Mrs. Yollis class :-)

  10. Dear 2KM,

I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! They are delicious, but I was very surprised to see that not that many people liked it! Did you try it?

    Yours truly,
    (Mrs.Yollis' student)

  11. Dear 2KM,

What a surprise to find that all of you have tried the American lunch called the PB & J! I think it important to try new things. Sometimes we find that we like new foods and sometimes we find we do not.

I am a big fan or the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The super-crunchy style is my favorite. Not many people like the crunchy...they prefer the smooth, but not me. I also like to put a lot of strawberry or cherry jam on my sandwich.

Writing this comment is making me hungry! :-)

    Your friend,
    Mrs. Yollis

  12. Dear everyone,

Thank you for all your wonderful comments! 2KM enjoyed reading each and every one of them today.

We were especially happy to read that it was the highlight of Mrs Adlers day to read about our adventures with PB&Js. It is fantastic to make others happy!

    Talk to you tomorrow!!

    Miss McGeady

PS - we thought some of your sandwich suggestions were very interesting!!

  13. Dear 2KM,
