Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteYour classroom looks great! I think it's better than my classroom.
I voted for favorite website, but I think that our classroom is even better.
Sincerely,
Kayla
(Mrs. Yollis' student)
@ Kayla,
ReplyDeleteThanks for a terrific comment. I don't think our classroom is better than yours. Maybe it is just different!
This project is going to be a lot of fun!
Hope you're enjoying your break,
Your friend,
Miss McGeady
Dear Miss McGeady and 2KM,
ReplyDeleteAfter watching your movie, I feel like I have been to your classroom! Terrific work everyone!
Your class is very colorful and full of interesting spaces!
It was funny for me to see the money bulletin board on the wall. Of course, it's dollars, but they are Australian dollars. Very colorful!
I also loved the photo of Maddy's work space. Mrs. Yollis loves a tidy tub! Many of my students keep their desks clean, and others are working toward that goal. :-)
My students are out of school this week due to a district furlough, but we will be back to our classroom on June 1. The first thing I'm going to do is show my class your video! (Well, first I have to take roll and lunch count!)
I have a few questions for you:
1. What are ziptales? Does everyone choose their own story or does Miss McGeady choose the tale?
2. I noticed that students change their readers every day. How do they choose which reader to pick next? Are the readers fiction and non-fiction?
3. I also observed that the reading groups and math groups have names like Kucing and Anjing. What do the names mean?
I am jealous of your FIVE computers and IWB! We have two computers, and they are very old. In fact, they may not last until the end of school!
I know my students will be excited to see your video on Tuesday!
Your friend,
Mrs. Yollis

From Gill (Jacob's mum)
Dear Miss McGeady and 2KM,
ReplyDeleteThe video of your class room is fantastic. You are very lucky to have such a colourful and organised classroom with access to so much technology, we didn't have anything like that when we were at primary school.
I think it is great that you can share your learning with not only the class next door (2KJ) but also with Miss Yollis's class on the other side of the world! I hope you enjoy your early morning skype session next week, if it goes ahead.
Katy Y (Olivia's mum)

Dear Miss McGeady and class,
ReplyDeleteI thought your classroom looked really fun because you guys had a raffle. Yes, I do have a question and here it is. Are rubbers erasers? What is an interactive white board?
Sincerely,
Nick
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fun classroom you have. I would like to have lockers for our backpack. Our class puts our backpacks on wood hooks. In the morning when you do the lunch count, do the kids put it in an envelope, or do they tell you? What was in that basket that went to the canteen?
From,
Sydney
Mrs. Yollis' student
Dear Mrs. McGeady,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed observing your fantastic class room and what activities you do. I can't believe you use I Pod Touches. I like the magnificent Australian flag next to the American flag. What games do you do at recess?
Sincerely,
Sam
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteYour class sounds like a fun place. When you order a lunch at the canteen, is there a variety of food, or very little choice? Also how do you earn raffle tickets, and what kind of prizes can you get?
Sincerely,
Ben
(Mrs. Yollis' student)
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteYour classroom is so neat! I wish I was there. You are so lucky you have Ipod Touches in your classroom. I wish our class had them. What can you order for lunch? Are there any educational apps on the Ipods?
From,
Caleb
Dear Miss McGeady and class,
ReplyDeleteI thought that your classroom looked really nice. At my old school when I was in Kindergarten, I had the same kind of room like you did. For example, my old school had the same kind of door that separates a room. We opened the door a lot of times even for rehearsals. I liked the raffle that you had. What are your favorite activities in your classroom?
Sincerely,
Jollene :)
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteYour video was awesome! It is so cool that you have Ipod touches in your classroom. I wish my class had those. My class doesn't have lockers.
From,
Charlie (In Mrs. Yollis' class)
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteI loved your slide show! In first grade, we had a raffle and if somebody's name was picked they could have a prize, or they could have lunch with the teacher. How do you earn the raffle tickets?
Sincerely,
Jaxon
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteI love your video of your classroom. You're lucky you have five computers in your class and get to use an I pod touch.
Sincerely,
Ava (from Mrs. Yollis' class)
Dear 2km,
ReplyDeleteYou have a really nice classroom. I think that the interactive white board is cool because you can underline things in a story or something. How do you get raffle tickets?
From,
Trent :D
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed watching your video about your classroom. My favorite part was when you showed us that you put your backpacks in lockers. That is very interesting to me.
I noticed that you eat inside and then play outside, and we play outside and then eat outside.
What are your favorite subjects in school?
Yours truly,
Kendall
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteWOW! Your class is so cool! I think that both of our classrooms are fabulous in the same level. It is really cool that you guys have ipod touches in the classroom.
From,
Gal
(A student in Mrs. Yollis's class)
Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteI think it was a great idea to do our classroom posts because I have been dying to see your classroom and your lockers. What did you think of our classroom?

Dear 2KM,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the wonderful tour of your classroom. It is so colorful and neat. Did you clean just for the video or is it always so tidy?
I noticed right away that you wear uniforms to school and wanted to know how much flexibility you had in what you wear. Is it okay as long as it is green and gold, or must you wear pants or a skirt? Shorts? Since our school doesn't have a uniform, I am very curious.
I also loved your reading corner. It looked very cozy and a great place to cuddle up with a good book.
Thank you for teaching me so much throughout this school year.
Best,
Barbara
(Jaxon's mum)
Dear Barbara,
ReplyDeleteThe students in 2KM have a 3 day weekend as today is a report writing day so I thought I would reply to your excellent comment!
I am a very fussy teacher and I make sure our classroom is kept very neat and tidy! As I tell the students a cluttered classroom means a cluttered mind. I know people may disagree with that though (eg Albert Einstein!)
The students get a raffle ticket when they use their initiative and tidy up or put something away without being asked. Initiative is a great skill to learn!
I think nearly all schools in Australia have a uniform. I think this probably only came in in the 1990s however because when I was at primary (elementary) school in the 1980s uniforms were optional.
The students can pretty much wear any sort of tracksuit, shorts or t-shirts that are green or gold so you can buy a "uniform" from a department store. Most students wear a "Leopold PS" jumper which they buy from the uniform shop. The girls' kilts are a tartan that can only be purchased from the uniform shop.
There are many options to the uniform. Girls wear green/white check dresses, checked "skorts", green shorts, tartan kilts, t-shirts, jumpers and tracksuits. Boys wear tracksuits and shorts/t-shirts in summer.
We also have rules about jewellery (only studs or sleepers), nail polish/make up (not allowed) and hair accessories (must be green/gold).
I hope this answers your questions and please write back if you have any more questions.
I too find school on the opposite side of the world fascinating!
Your friend,
Miss McGeady
Dear Mrs Yoill,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry we do not have Indonesian money we have Malasian money.
Your friend,
Maddison.
Dear Miss McGeady and class,
ReplyDeleteGreat post about your classroom! I never knew that your students eat lunch inside then play because in California we eat outside, but instead of eating first the third, fourth and fifth graders play first then eat.
Your friend,
Nick
