Mrs. Yollis' Schedule and Brainfoods!

When does Mrs Yollis' Class start and end the school day and when do they eat?

We thought we would tell you about our school day!

  • 8:15 A.M. - school starts
  • 10:00-10:20 A.M. - recess/snack time or as it is now called... brainfood!
  • 12:15-1:00 P.M. we play and eat
  • The first 20 minutes are for play while the younger students (first/second grades) get in line to buy a hot lunch or eat the lunch that they brought from home.

  • The last 20 minutes are for older students (third/fourth/fifth grades) to get in line to buy a hot lunch or eat the lunch that they brought from home.
  • 2:20 P.M. - home time!
Thanks for introducing the word brainfood!

Brainfood is a small fruit or vegetable morning snack that allows us to refuel our brains and bodies so we can do our best work. Some popular brainfood snacks in Mrs. Yollis' class are:

tangerines

carrots

orange slices

fruit salad

yellow bell peppers (pretty!)

juicy strawberries

cucumbers and oranges

fruity yogurt

What is your favorite healthy snack?

Do you notice any differences between
the schedules of the two schools?

  1. I am impressed by the healthy snacks of both classes. And brainfood sounds like the perfect name to fuel your mind for the busy task of studying.

I can't wait to hear more about the class down under.

  2. Dear Mrs Yollis' Class,
I loved finding out about your school day. I wish we could start school earlier and finish at 2:20pm as well!
You said that some students line up for a hot lunch. Where do they line up? Do you have a cafeteria?
    Sincerely,
    Miss McGeady

  4. Dear Mrs Yollis' Class,
Where do you line up to get your lunch? Is a tangerine the same as a mandarin?

  6. Dear 2KM,

I eat fruit at recess and for lunch I usually eat carrots. What kind of brain food to you eat?

  7. @ 2KM,

You asked us where we line up for lunch. At lunch, we line up a few feet away from the lunch tables. We line up after we play on the yard. Lunch starts at 12:15, and ends at 1:00.

Today only two people from our class are buying hot lunch, and two other people from our class are getting a salad.

How many people buy lunch in your class a day?

    From,

    Nick and Trent

  8. @Nick and Trent,
Thanks for your question. We usually have about two people a day buy their lunch from the canteen but on Fridays there are sometimes more people who buy their lunch.
