Australia: Sophie's Vegie Garden

Yesterday Ashleigh and Zoe from 2KM went to Sophie's house after school to help her make a vegie garden in her backyard.

Sophie's dad Mark is a landscaper so he knew exactly what to do.

Mark made a box out of wood for the vegie patch. They had to dig up some dirt to put in the box and then add some horse poo. Next they planted their vegies. They planted carrots, broccoli, lettuce and honey snap peas. The last thing they had to do was water their new vegies.

Hopefully the vegies will grow soon so Sophie and her family can enjoy some delicious produce!

  1. Dear Ashleigh, Sophie, and Zoe,

We are fascinated with your post about the new garden. About half of our class has a garden. Some of the plants are: strawberries, carrots, squash, basil, mint, grapes, rosemary, tomatoes, lettuce, zucchini, and peppers.

Some also have fruit trees like: lemon, tangerine, apple, orange, pomegranate, grapefruit, plum, lime, and apricot.

Two students are going to start gardens when they move to new houses on Friday.

What is your favorite vegetable that you planted?

    Happy gardening! :-)

  2. Dear Mrs Yollis' class,

Thank you for the lovely comment!
In our garden we grow carrots and lettuce too.

My favourite vegetable that I am growing is a carrot. They are very crunchy and nice.
Have you ever tried a carrot before?

My Granny grows a plum tree too. She also grows a tree called an apricot tree.

When we were planting them, we all got to pick a plant each. Me and Zoe had a honey snap pea and Ashleigh planted some lettuce.

I just went to look at the plants. I also watered them. Zoe, Ashleigh and my vegie patch looks very healthy!
We have another box so my sister [Lily] and her friends [Annis and Presley] planted some vegetables. They planted lots of broccoli and some carrots.
Hopefully they will all grow soon!

    Keep blogging!

    Your Friend,
    Sophie:-)
